Over 700 works of Western artist Frank Reaugh (1860-1945), the “Dean of Texas painters,” are presented on a rotating basis in the Reaugh Gallery.  Reaugh studied at the St. Louis Museum and School of Fine Art and at the Academie Julian in Paris, France.  He began sketching West Texas in 1883, but found great success from 1890 to 1915, exhibiting works at the World’s Columbian Exposition at Chicago and the Louisiana Purchase Exposition at St. Louis in 1904.  Reaugh also helped establish the Dallas art community around 1900 as both teacher and artist.
