Alamo

ALAMO SURVIVORS

Almost all of the Alamo defenders died in the battle, but about thirty people later claimed they had been in the Alamo during the battle and survived.  Most of these were women and children but several men also made this claim.

On the Mexican side, hundreds of soldiers and officers survived the thirteen-days of fighting but only a few recollections from these men survive.  Their comments give some insight into the Mexican side of the Alamo battle as well as some surprising information about the Texan defenders.

Some of these recollections are based on direct quotes from survivors, others have been recreated from interviews conducted with the survivors.
